1. Government and organizations close to it claiming that free press being established;
2. While opposition considering free speech and thought being restricted.
Facts prove that the majority of people expressing different opinions on freedom of speech and press as well as on condition of mass media have got incomplete and one-sided information about the existing national and international legislations. Comparison of laws on Mass Media operating in Azerbaijan with their analogs in western countries proves not large difference among them as contrary to some people’s sayings. The main reason of this is that, during the laws elaboration the experience of western countries was studied with the national features considered. In contrast to many people’s sayings, freedoms of speech and press are limited in the laws of developed western countries. There are not few articles restricting freedoms of speech and press in these countries together with the regulations to protect them. Duties of mass media members alongside with their rights are exactly stated in the laws of these countries as well as they are in Azerbaijan. Investigation proves that there are laws determining limits of freedoms of speech and press nearly in the all the western countries together with those ones guaranteeing them.

When I think about a new movie, I do not have any ready conceptions in my mind: I need a theme to be close to my heart. Then I am totally absorbed by the subject of a future film by the very finish of work. I am mostly interested in matters of human rights whether that is a struggle for freeing political prisoners in Rumania, disclosure of a bloody dictatorship in Burma (Myanmar) or a view on human rights washed out by western governments for the sake of national security. If a producer asserts on his taking a “neutral” position, he or she either lies or is just a fool. Certainly there is a specific idea – a key point which is quite evident for any viewer, but it is verified by impressive facts in my films.

Moreover, our country is one of the some countries worldwide, where there is the freedom of conscience in its whole implication. This fact was embodied in appropriate laws as well as in daily life.
